Welcome to Irini Melina!!

Well, the day has finally come and I am happy to announce the birth of my beautiful daughter Irini Melina. She was born by C-section on the 20th March (2 weeks early) and was 3860 grams (8 lbs 12 oz) and 54 cm (21.3 inches) long. It was quite a difficult birth, as I had a post partum hemorrhage, and the meds they had to give me to stop it made me feel very, very sick, resulting in me lying on the operating table vomiting uncontrollably. But it was all worth it as soon as they placed little Irini on my chest!

After a week in hospital, we are both home and doing well, and settling into some sort of routine that seems to revolve around breastfeeding and changing nappies. I had forgotten how tiresome this can be at times! Stephen found the first few days quite difficult (a combination of the new baby, and having had to stay away from home for a week, i think), but now he seems to be quite fascinated with her, giving her adorable little kisses. Hopefully, this lasts!

Congratulations on your new baby girl! Hope all is well. One of the best moments of my life was the first full day at home after my second child was born. Now that I have three, it's all a blur.

Congratulations! Enjoy these days and take lots of photos - the second one grows up faster than the first one!
